The main part of skatepark Westblaak opened earlier this year. Currently, the second part of the park is built, which is intended to be a more natural piece of public space, shaped to be interesting for skaters as well as other usergroups.

Together with a big group of local skaters – group Westblaak II – we initiated the redevelopment of skatepark Westblaak at the end of 2012. A big political campaign was neccesary in order to raise the ambitions of the project. We then got commissioned, together with international experts, by The New Institute to make a design vision which got further worked out by skatepark designer Janne Saario in a dialogue with us and our fellow Westblaak II expert panel members. Great to see our initiative paid off!
